Mentees, associates, family members, and friends gathered to honor Dr. Ezekiel Aremu Adewole (FCA), Managing Partner of Adewole Aremu & Co (Chartered Accountants), following the conferment of his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Accounting by Lagos State University (LASU) on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.
The celebration took place shortly after LASU’s 29th and 30th combined convocation ceremonies, which recognized graduates from two academic sessions under the leadership of Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello.
During the convocation, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced a ₦20 million cash award each for the overall best graduating students of the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 academic sessions. His mentor, Engineer Muftau Adewale Adepoju, praised his humility and perseverance, remarking: “Seeing you burn the midnight oil to complete your work while being a wholesome father and distinguished professional was fulfilling. You have never been prideful but modest in your achievements. I am proud to address you as Doctor.”
Reflecting on his journey, Dr. Adewole shared: “My PhD journey began years ago, requiring me to balance rigorous academic demands with professional and family responsibilities. Completing a dissertation is a significant milestone—representing years of research, analysis, writing, and revision. Each stage, from coursework to defenses, tested my knowledge, perseverance, and resilience. This achievement is not just personal but a testament to the collective support I received. Above all, I give gratitude to God Almighty for this deserving feat.”
The event was graced by dignitaries including the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi; Fatimat Dangote, representing her father, Alhaji Aliko Dangote; Mr. Akin Kekere-Ekun, OFR, recipient of an honorary Doctor of Business in Entrepreneurship Finance Management; Mrs. Harriet-Ann Omobola Adesola, honored with a Doctor of Business in Corporate Finance and Governance; Hon.
