The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has dismantled a powerful international cocaine trafficking cartel, arresting its Nigerian kingpin, Afolabi Kazeem Michael, popularly known as KC Luxury, alongside key associates in Lagos and the United Kingdom.

NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd.), disclosed the breakthrough during a press briefing in Lagos on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. He described the operation as one of the most significant narcotics investigations in Nigeria’s history, leading to the interception of a UK-bound consignment of 184.50 kilograms of cocaine worth an estimated ₦39 billion.

According to Marwa, the cartel exploited courier logistics companies to move drugs across borders, wrongly assuming them to be softer channels. The NDLEA’s Special Investigation Team traced the network from couriers to masterminds, unraveling a web of shell companies and financial facilitators.

KC Luxury, a self-styled social media influencer and luxury goods dealer, was dramatically arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, as he attempted to board a business-class flight to Paris. He was found with €7,750, £2,800, ₦100,000 in cash, and expensive jewelry. A subsequent raid on his Banana Island apartment uncovered exotic vehicles and other assets linked to the cartel’s illicit proceeds.

Marwa confirmed that simultaneous arrests were made in the UK, underscoring the strength of international cooperation. He warned traffickers that “no sanctuary exists anywhere in Nigeria for those who traffic in poison,” stressing that the Agency’s reach extends from ports and forests to luxury apartments and departure lounges.

“This case sends an unmistakable signal,” Marwa declared. “To those hiding behind luxury brands, glamorous lifestyles, and social media personas while trafficking poison, the NDLEA will find you — even at the departure gate.”

The NDLEA boss reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to safeguarding Nigerian youth and ensuring the country is never used as a conduit for narcotics trafficking.
