The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has introduced a new toll-free short-code hotline, 3367, designed to enhance emergency response, improve traffic management, and strengthen accountability across Lagos State.
The agency explained that the new platform replaces its former long-service code with a more user-friendly communication channel, enabling residents to report traffic-related incidents at no cost.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Adebayo Taofiq, confirmed that the hotline is currently accessible to subscribers on MTN, 9mobile (Etisalat), and Glo networks.
Scope of Services
According to LASTMA, the 3367 hotline can be used by road users to report:
- Vehicle breakdowns
- Road crashes
- Disabled articulated vehicles
- Stranded tankers
- Traffic obstructions
- Other emergencies requiring immediate intervention
The platform also allows members of the public to report the conduct, professionalism, and operational activities of LASTMA personnel, thereby promoting transparency and accountability in service delivery.
Language Accessibility
To encourage wider participation and eliminate communication barriers, callers can interact with hotline operators in English, Yoruba, or Pidgin English, ensuring inclusivity during emergencies.
Leadership Perspective
LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, described the initiative as a landmark step in leveraging technology to improve road safety and traffic management in Lagos.
“The inauguration of the 3367 Toll-Free Short-Code Hotline represents another monumental stride towards institutionalising a safer, more efficient, and highly responsive transportation ecosystem across Lagos State. It provides residents with a direct, convenient, and cost-free channel through which incidents requiring immediate intervention can be promptly reported,” Bakare-Oki stated.
He emphasized that the rapid growth and complexity of Lagos demand a proactive, technology-enabled traffic management system capable of responding swiftly to emerging transportation challenges.
Assurance to Residents
Bakare-Oki assured Lagosians that all reports received through the hotline would be treated with professionalism, confidentiality, and urgency before being forwarded to the appropriate operational units for prompt action.
He urged residents to make full use of the hotline, stressing that their active participation would help enhance road safety, improve accountability, and support the collective effort to build a safer and more efficient transportation system across the state.
