Human rights activist and community leader, Chief (Comrade) Austine Ikubese alongside his wife, Hon. Sarah Ikubese recently paid a courtesy visit to the Area E Police Commander in Festac Town, Lagos, ACP Chike Godwin Oti.
ACP Oti had previously served as DPO of Agboju Police Station, in Satellite Town few years back.
In his remarks, Ikubese said ACP Chike is a humble, dedicated, commited and sincere police officer noting that he has known for many years with excellent records in service.
Chief Ikubese described the visit as profound and deeply significant stressing that Oti has disciplined approach to policing with integrity while also advising other junior officers to emulate him.
“ACP Chike Godwin Oti Commander Area E” Police Command Festac Lagos State, was former Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO). He was also Provost Mashal Lagos State Police Command and former DPO Agboju Police Station under Oriade LCDA Amuwo Odofin, etc. During his time as DPO Agboju Police Station, Chike distinguished himself as an exceptional and excellent Police officer with so much commitment and dedication, his humility and accessibility to the public whether big or small is second to none, Chike was loved by the Youths and the Community leaders in Oriade LCDA,
“During the End SARS protests, as a Community leader myself and others including the then Oriade LCDA Executive Chairman, Hon. Ramotalai Akinola Hassan were able to mobilise our youths in the Community to work with the Police at Agboju under the watch of Chike to protect every Government’s and private properties in the Community, it’s on record that despite the burning of police stations and government’s properties even private investments across the state, Oriade LCDA never lost any property to End SARS pogrom.
“Similarly, Chike and his policemen were very responsive to distress calls during the COVID-19 pandemic in reducing the spread of the virus at that time. I remember putting a call to him at that time when a Chinese man in my Estate arrived from China and was not quarantined, he immediately sent his policemen even before the Lagos State health authorities could come around, Chike is a detribalised police officer who treats everyone with respect and merit, he was able to reduce crimes in Oriade LCDA where people can sleep with their two eyes closed at nights and go about their legitimate businesses during the day without being harassed by hoodlums.

“ACP Chike leadership is worthy of emulation by every standard as a Police officer; Military, government or private sector even politicians, you don’t oppress intimidate or victimise people, you may end up being cursed or blessed, just like the case of the ASP Nuhu the trigger happy police officer in Delta State who shot the young man recently, even the Delta State PPRO during his interview with Channels TV attributed his action to be spiritual, meaning he would have been receiving curses from the public which would have been the result of his barbaric action that has ended his career disgracefully, we must be careful what we do to people when we are in a position of power,” Ikubese stated.
