Three Injured As Building Collapses In Lagos

Three adult males sustained varying degrees of injuries after a one-storey building under construction collapsed in the Mushin area of Lagos State.

The incident occurred at 96 Ishaga Road, directly opposite the Idi Araba Central Mosque, on Sunday afternoon.

According to a statement signed by the Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, a distress call was received at approximately 3:30 p.m.

The three injured individuals were rescued and received immediate attention at the scene before being transferred to a hospital for further treatment by the Lagos State Ambulance Service.

Responding agencies included the Isolo Fire Station of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps, the Lagos State Ambulance Service, and the Nigeria Police.

Search and rescue operations are ongoing as officials continue to assess the site.

The cause of the collapse is yet to be determined, as investigations are underway.

The latest collapse in Mushin comes barely a month after a three-storey building caved in on Oremeta Street in the Ojodu-Berger area of Lagos State, leading to the death of one person.

13 individuals were rescued from the rubble during the incident, which occurred on April 19.

Eyewitnesses said the building, which housed a local restaurant, had been under construction. A resident who spoke on condition of anonymity revealed that the structure gave way shortly after some of the restaurant staff had arrived for the day.
