The National Chairman of Association of Online Media Practitioners of Nigeria (AMPON), Mogaji Wole Arisekola, has urged the youths to take decisive action in looking after and caring for their aged parents.

The Ibadan born celebrity journalist and businessman also berated decline in societal values even as he called for the reshape of moral compass of future generations.

The publisher of The Street Journal Magazine in his recent social media post captured the mindsets of a child at different stages in life towards his or her parents.

He highlighted both the positive and negative thoughts of a child based on their emotional intelligence, age and maturity.

He however called for a paradigm shift, noting that children should never neglect their parents at their vulnerable state, as void left by death of parents often attracts regrets and grief.

The full text of Mogaji’s social media post is reproduced hereunder:

5 years old – “Parents, I love you all.”

12 years old – “I can’t stand my parents.”

16 years old – “My parents are so annoying.”

18 years old – “I’m leaving this house!”

25 years old – “My parents were right.”

30 years old – “I want to visit my parents’ house.”

50 years old – “I don’t want to lose my parents.”

70 years old – “I would give up everything to have my parents here with me.”

You only have one set of parents. Take care of them while they are still alive.

Ask those whose parents are no longer alive.
May God rest their souls and bless them with Aljannah Firdaus. Amen.
