Ikeja Electric Plc, Nigeria’s largest power distribution company, has officially dismissed a message circulating online regarding prepaid meters and electricity purchases, describing it as fake news.
In a statement released by the company, Ikeja Electric clarified that it did not issue the purported notice and urged customers to disregard the misleading information.“We’ve noticed a false message circulating about prepaid meters and electricity purchases. Please be informed that Ikeja Electric did not issue this notice,” the company stated.
The power distributor further advised customers to avoid sharing unverified messages and to always confirm information through its official communication channels before acting on or forwarding such claims.
This move underscores the company’s commitment to transparency and its ongoing efforts to combat misinformation within Nigeria’s power sector.
