Former Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, joined a high-profile delegation led by Senator Abdulaziz Yari, Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC-PCC), on consultation visits to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja II), and the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Kolapo Sulu-Gambari, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to a statement issued by Yari’s Media Office, the visits formed part of the APC-PCC’s nationwide stakeholder engagement efforts aimed at strengthening relationships with traditional institutions, fostering mutual understanding, and seeking the guidance, blessings, and prayers of respected royal fathers across the country.
The statement emphasized that the visits were not intended to secure political endorsements or mobilization support. Rather, the delegation sought the spiritual support and counsel of traditional rulers, recognizing their enduring role in promoting peace, stability, and national cohesion.
Speaking at the palace of the Emir of Ilorin, Senator Yari expressed confidence in the APC’s prospects in Kwara State and across the country, stating that the party was well-positioned to secure victories in the presidential, governorship, National Assembly, and state assembly elections in 2027.
He highlighted achievements recorded by the APC-led administration since 2019, including improvements in education and healthcare, the establishment of new health facilities, and the implementation of significant developmental reforms.
Yari also praised the performance of Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, noting that the party intends to build on the governor’s achievements and his leadership role as Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum to strengthen the APC’s national appeal.
The statement noted that the visits to Oyo and Kwara states mark the beginning of a broader nationwide consultation tour involving traditional rulers and political leaders, as the party intensifies preparations for future campaign activities leading up to the 2027 elections.
The APC delegation featured several prominent political figures, including National Secretary Senator Ajibola Bashiru; former APC National Chairman and former Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje; former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Bello Masari; and former Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, whose presence underscored the significance of the consultations.
Also in attendance were former governors and senior party leaders, including Adamu Aliero, Ali Modu Sheriff, Rochas Okorocha, Ahmad Sani Yarima, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, Danjuma Goje, Ibrahim Shema, and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole.
The consultative tour, according to the statement, reflects the APC-PCC’s commitment to engaging key stakeholders nationwide and recognizing the important role of traditional institutions in fostering unity, peace, and democratic stability as the country moves toward the 2027 elections.
