2026 Father’s Day: Kemi Olokode-Ayelabola Urges Parents to Build Stronger Homes for a Better Society

As the world marked International Father’s Day on Sunday, June 21, 2026, behavioral and child development expert, Kemi Olokode-Ayelabola, called on fathers to take greater responsibility in building stronger homes, stressing that the quality of family life directly shapes the society at large.

Speaking during a virtual media chat to commemorate the occasion, Olokode-Ayelabola emphasized the pivotal role of fathers in instilling discipline, values, and respect in their children.

“As we celebrate Father’s Day, we must reflect on the roles of fathers. Fathers are uniquely positioned to build better homes, and with good homes, our society will be better,” she said.

She urged parents to instill discipline and accountability in their children, noting that the character of the nation’s youth is a mirror of the homes they come from. “Respectful children who obey societal norms are urgently needed at this point in our nation’s history,” she added

Congratulating fathers on the occasion, Olokode-Ayelabola appealed to them to spend more time at home, be actively involved in family life, and make necessary corrections when needed.

According to her, well-organized homes ultimately translate into a well-organized society.

She further advised fathers to treat their wives and children with dignity and honor, stressing that appreciation and protection foster love, respect, and stability within families.

“Appreciate your wives and children so they feel protected and valued. In return, they will honor you. The defence a husband provides must be both physical and spiritual,” she noted.

Deepening her Father’s Day message, behavioral and child development expert Kemi Olokode-Ayelabola called on fathers to nurture, support, and defend their families, stressing that the strength of society begins with the strength of the home.

She emphasized that honor within families must be reciprocal, urging wives and children to also show respect and obedience to their husbands and fathers in order to foster harmony and mutual trust.Olokode-Ayelabola concluded by underscoring that fathers carry a profound responsibility to society through the homes they build.

She encouraged them to instill values of honesty, accountability, forgiveness, and shared worship practices within their households.

According to her, these virtues are essential in preventing divorce, confusion, and external interference, while ensuring stability and unity.

“A peaceful and stable home is the foundation of a peaceful and stable society,” she affirmed, highlighting the critical role of fathers in shaping families that contribute positively to national development.
