A socialite, show promoter, and publisher of Ireland-based Street Journal magazine, Wole Arisekola, has said the late Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, was a visionary and compassionate leader.
Arisekola who is Mogaji Ajenigi-Eye of Yemetu-Oje of Ibadanland made the above remarks while extending his heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Oyo State, the Royal family, the Olubadan-in-council and the people of Ibadan on the passing of the monarch who died at the age of 90.
The Chairman, Association of Online Media Practitioners of Nigeria, (AMPON), disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
The condolence message reads: “It is with profound sorrow and a heavy heart that I extend my deepest condolences on the passing of Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin. The news of his transition has left me deeply shaken and disturbed.
“Kabiyesi was a visionary and compassionate leader, who used the spheres of his influence as a respected traditional ruler and a lover of the creative industry to advance the progress of his people, encouraging and motivating them to give their best in their vocation and to the nation.
“While his demise understandably leaves a huge void to fill, it is my hope that the people of Ibadan and Nigerians from different walks of life will honour the eternal memory of the deceased by imbibing the virtues he cherished so much: generosity, peace, tolerance and devotion to unity.
Olubadan’s departure is not just a personal loss to his loved ones but a void in the tapestry of our society.
“His life mirrored the essence of leadership, selfless service and dedication to uplifting others. As a business leader and custodian of our cultural heritage, he championed progress while preserving the values that bind us as a people.”
Arisekola also prays God to grant the soul of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin eternal rest and comfort the family, friends, associates and subjects he left behind.
