Concerned about how elections in Nigeria are always saturated with many observers deployed by different groups to influence voters through analysis on social and mainstream media, the publisher of Street Journal and President, Association of Online Media Practitioners of Nigeria (AMPON), Mogaji Wole Arisekola ahead 2027 has cautioned opinion molders against biased political reporting in the country.
According to a terse message shared on Friday on his social media platform seen by Veracity Desk (veracitydesk.com), the show promoter and business tycoon expressed dissatisfaction over how lots of unqualified individuals have suddenly become analysts with a penchant to project their own narratives for selfish and pecuniary gains.
Arisekola said: “Jobs don land for table—that’s the new anthem on TV stations and online podcasts these days. Suddenly, everyone’s a commentator, a critic, or a self-appointed analyst. Even when they’re talking into the void, echoing back their own opinions, they’ll boldly declare: “We’re speaking for the people!”
Arisekola’s views were literally apt, guiding Nigerians to eschew incendiary and jaundiced comments or innuendos that could further pose huge challenge to the country’s national integration objectives, with a caveat that the political aspiration of anybody is not worth the disruption of the unity and peace of Nigeria.
As a vocal voice in public affairs and also an influencer, Arisekola is known for ferociously condemning disproportionate coverage of political activities based on economic considerations or political bias.
