The Executive Chairman of Oriade LCDA in Lagos State, Hon. Rasaq Akorede Olojede has assured that his administration is unfolding plans to occupy social media with increased content on governments’ policies and programmes through its well-positioned social media platforms by engaging the online audience in advocacy and public enlightenment.

Olojede stated this on Monday during a briefing with some newsmen at the council’s secretariat.

He said increased uploading of content on the social media platforms in terms of short videos, infographics, Facebook and Instagram live videos etc, will deepen awareness and make the people trust those who are in government and inturn offer their unalloyed support to them.

The Chairman also added that the council will not renege in generating and deploying contents that are persuasive and capable of explaining the inherent values of government policies across the various channels of communication, while also monitoring feedback that could guide re-packaging of governments’ policies and programmes in order to be constantly in tune with the temperament and expectations of the various publics.

He said: “In today’s digital era, social media has become a pivotal tool for governments worldwide to engage with citizens, promote transparency, and build public trust. By leveraging these platforms effectively, public institutions especially for us at Oriade LCDA can foster a more informed, participatory governance and as well bridge the gaps between the government and the governed.

“As we all know that the social media encompasses a range of online platforms that facilitate the creation and sharing of content, and building of virtual communities. For governments, these platforms serve as direct channels to seamlessly communicate with citizens, disseminate information, and receive feedbacks, this will accordingly guide policy direction and at Oriade LCDA we won’t take this for granted.

Interestingly, digital landscapes have continue to evolve, and that is why we want to remain adaptable by embracing new technologies and methodologies to meet the needs of our constituents. It will help to engage with diverse demographics, including younger generations who predominantly use social media. And more importantly it will help to combat misinformation, counter false narratives and provide accurate information.

“By sharing updates, policies, and news, citizens become more informed and engaged. This also allows for transparency while also providing open access to government activities and decisions. A robust digital presence is very crucial for public institutions especially in the areas of operations and administration, and that is why Oriade LCDA is exploring this opportunity to take governance to the people at grassroots level, even as we are resolved to justify President Bola Tinubu,’s call for autonomy for government at the grassroots. We are also committed to masses-friendly initiatives and we wont renege in our promises,” Olojede assured.

Records however show that the administration of Olojede which is barely three months has intervened strategically by fast-tracking various road infrastructure projects that are running simultaneously acorss the communities within the LCDA and other life impacting interventions which are said to be in tandem with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and ultimately cater to people’s welfare and empowerment.
