The Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Kwara State, is gripped by uncertainty following the “replacement ” of Rotimi Makinde as a board member.

Stakeholders have raised concerns that Makinde’s removal may be motivated by ulterior motives, citing his vocal stance on various issues and reportedly strained relationships.

Makinde’s tenure has been marked by efforts to bring peace and stability to the institution. Many believe his removal is unjustified and may disrupt the progress made. While some attribute the decision to an error or oversight by the ministry, others suspect the involvement of the institution’s management.

The circumstances surrounding Makinde’s potential departure have sparked intense debate. Meanwhile, the new appointee has been warmly welcomed with a lavish hosting, sparking curiosity about the future dynamics at the polytechnic.

When contacted recently by some curious journalists, Makinde described the development as insulting, “When indeed I have taken it as an opportunity to serve and have never been absent for a minute and have contributed to bring peace to the institution known with crisis upon crisis, in fact we met the school under lock and keys as a result of management fracas with the unions and I was saddled with the responsibility as an adhoc committee chairman to mediate and we indeed brought peace to the school in the largest interest of the students.”

As the situation unfolds, many pundits are wondering how this latest intervention will impact the institution’s stability and progress. Other concerns raised by them are that will the new appointee build on Makinde’s achievements or chart a new course? For them, they believe only time will tell.
