A group of concerned members of the All Progressive Congress in Bayelsa State, APC solidarity vanguard has called on the Minister of State Petroleum (oil) Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri to act out his position as the leader of APC Bayelsa State due to current state of the party in bayelsa state.
The president of the group in the state, TIMIGHE CLEOPAS in a recent press release stated that from abi ini tio APC Bayelsa State does not have legitimate party executives from the ward to state levels. adding that when Chief Dennis Otiotio and its cohorts were illegally imposed on the state APC, people who meant well for the party in the state rejected them because of their track records of high-handedness, incompetence and failure. And true to expectations at the end, Chief Otiotio and his paymaster led the party to its worst outing at the 2023 general elections.
He further explained that the governorship election that followed suit was a two-man party affair resulting to the embarrassing trouncing of the party flagbearer at the polls. The APC as a party is at its lowest ebb in Bayelsa State. The party has to be salvaged for proper positioning in future elections.
“In the light of the prevailing inertia of the party in the state, Sen. Lokpobiri as the highest office holder from Bayelsa State must, as a matter of urgency, take up the leadership and responsibility to reintegrate, rebuild and reposition the party for greater glory. This is his statutory and moral obligation to the party which he cannot and must not shy away from.
“Accordingly, we had expected Sen. Lokpobiri to have acted earlier on this noble course of reorganization of the APC Bayelsa State but he seems to be failing on this sacred duty to his party and his people.
However, our consultations have revealed that some of his political aides like Dr. Enene Amba, Barr. Osomkeme Blankson and Hon.
“Orubebe Ogeibiri and others are the ones discouraging him to act. If this is true, then these aides of the Honourable Minister are selfish and do not mean well for the success of our party not only in Bayelsa State but in the whole country. We take particular exception to Dr. Enene Amba’s wrong advices to the Honourable Minister.
“We are really surprised and disappointed that these aides are comfortable with the insanity of the purported executives of the party in the state. We therefore strongly urge Sen. Lokpoboriri to avoid surrounding himself with such lame, inactive and visionless personal aides.Consequently, we want our party to succeed in future elections in the state.” he added.
Cleopas stressed there is no better time than now to reintegrate, rebuild and reposition our party in Bayelsa State adding that Sen. Lokpobiri has no option but to gird up his loins and swing into action by rescuing the party. The time is now for Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri to establish and stamp his leadership of the APC in Bayelsa State.
