The executive Chairman of Oriade LCDA, Hon. Rasaq Akorede Olojede has re-emphasised the need for residents to take ownership of infrastructural projects being delivered by his administration.

The Chairman said this on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 as he urged citizens of his constituency to guard and protect a network of roads he constructed in the locality and prevent them from vandalism while also urging the residents to eschew any acts that could comprise the integrity of the roads.

He gave the charge while making a private and unannounced tour with his media team on some of the newly constructed roads in the LCDA.

Hon. Olojede said the newly constructed Ayinke Timson road for example, is a major arterial road that connected and served as a lifeline to educational institutions, residential communities, and commercial hubs in the axis.

While stressing his administration’s unwavering commitments to the Greater Oriade project, he said the road is important in that it will enhance and improve quality of life, ease traffic congestion, promote business, and raise property values in the heart of Satellite Town and its adjoining communities.

The strategic arterial road, he said, was immersed in history and cultural significance. Before rehabilitation, he recalled that the road was way past its service life, with inadequate drainage and increased traffic, resulting in significant inconveniences to residents, businesses, and commuters. Recognising its importance, he said the government embarked on the transformative project to restore functionality, reduce travel time, improve aesthetics, and ensure long-term durability.

According to him the construction of the roads would bring a significant improvement to the communities.

“As a major strategic arterial road, it will serve as a key alternative route for motorists, significantly reduce travel time and ease traffic congestion.

“This initiative is aligned with the ongoing efforts to enhance intermodal transportation in the LCDA, further reinforcing the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure.

“The rehabilitation and construction of these roads is expected to boost economic activities by increasing property values but not to the detriment of the underprivileged though, but supporting local businesses and improving access to educational institutions, commercial centres, and residential neighbourhoods,” he said

Speaking further, he said that the government will not accept people destroying or parking on roads indiscriminately and government is ready to enforce a law prohibiting parking on the roads especially those that will be obstructive to smooth flow of traffic. Other artisan activities that could be destructive to the roads will also not be toleranted.

“The challenge we always have is that trailers will always park on the road. First of all as a government, we will not accept it and we will enforce it. So, let us just do the right thing by taking good care of our roads and other infrastructure in this communitym

The Chairman noted that by doing so, the government will have more funds to provide additional infrastructure across the LCDA for the well-being of all the citizens.

“Just make sure we protect it so that we can have more money to spend on other good things rather than fixing what we had done earlier,” Olojede advised.
