The initiator of National Opposition Movement, NOM, Otunba Segun Showunmi, Wednesday, declared 2025 a year of renewed determination for youth and women in the country.
Showunmi said this in his New Year message, where he expressed optimism that the New Year would boost the resilience of young people and women as they have demonstrated strength, tenacity and potential, which have changed the political order and showing they are a force to reckon with.

He also called for unity, resilience, and active participation in reshaping the nation’s destiny.
He said: “To the youths and women of Nigeria, I wish you a Happy New Year filled with hope, love, and renewed determination.
“You are the heartbeat of our nation, and together, we will chart a course for a brighter future.”
He also added that, “This New Year, let us reflect on our shared dreams and commit to making them a reality. The journey ahead is promising, and with your support, we will achieve greatness.”
However, he disclosed that the National Opposition Movement, which he said it is an initiative basically to serve as a platform and voice for citizens across the country, therefore, its pillars include equity, good governance, and national development.
He also explained that the movement is to unite Nigerians in pursuit of a progressive and inclusive future.
Meanwhile, according to him, the National Opposition Movement has already garnered widespread support from citizens, non-governmental organizations, and advocacy groups, including The Nation Builders and Reformers Organization, which has endorsed its vision of reform and progress.
“This movement is for all Nigerians who dream of a better tomorrow. It is a platform to amplify your voices, address your concerns, and ensure that your aspirations for a just and prosperous Nigeria are realized. Expect great things from us as we work tirelessly to serve the best interests of our nation.”
Speaking on the support, he (Showunmi) said, “The overwhelming backing we have received reinforces our commitment to this cause.
“With the collective efforts of Nigerians and dedicated partners like The Nation Builders and Reformers Organization, we are ready to drive meaningful change.”
While underscoring the focus and goals of the Movement, including empowerment for marginalized groups, promoting transparency, and fostering economic opportunities, he admonished Nigerian youths and women, “We understand your challenges, and we are here to ensure that your voices are heard and your needs are met. Together, we will build a Nigeria that works for everyone.”
