As Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu clocks 60 today, Otunba Segun Showunmi, convener of the National Opposition Movement Coalition (NOMC), a platform aimed at fostering grassroots consensus for the selection of future leaders has led tributes to the leader noting that his achievements are undeniable in his last six years in office.
Otunba Showunmi in a message he personally signed and made available to Veracity Desk (veracitydesk.com), praised Sanwo-Olu for his steadfast commitment to the progress of Lagos.
He as well urged Mr. Governor to force compliance with the master plan of the State and fix all environmental issues in manner that would subsequently project him as a key driver of infrastructural renaissance.
This is Showunmi’s full statement on Wednesday in commemoration of Sanwo-Olu’s milestone and it’s reproduced hereunder:
“Happy Birthday, Gov Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu not bad for 60.
“The achievements are undeniable as you begin the last lap towards the completion of your 2nd term in office.
“I encourage you to take off the gloves and fix the environmental issues.
“Let the work of Tokunbo Wahab be front and centre and top priority.
“We know our history of Lagos and we thank God for the development so far.
“The time is now to force compliance with the master plan in such a way that whoever comes after you will not need to apologise for trying to build a modern city.
“What must be pulled down should be pulled down down what must be provided for the greater good of the people must be provided for the good of the people.
“Asiwaju started the vision, Fashola deepened the framework, Ambode drove it deeper into places that the poor live in, it is now on your shoulders to sanitise the built-up areas.
“Lagos must not be a mega slum. It is not a no man’s land! It is a land for all persons who wish to live and strive in the biggest economic city-state in Africa.
“Sparkle like a Diamond. Many happy returns.
“Otunba Segun Showunmi.
The Alternative.”
