The Convener of the National Opposition Movement Coalition (NOMC), codenamed the Alternative, Otunba Segun Showunmi has felicitated with the former Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai on the occasion of his 65th birthday anniversary.
Showunmi, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former governorship aspirant in Ogun State described el-Rufai as a visionary leader whose main preoccupation is to make Nigeria great.
In a statement by his Showunmi on Sunday, the Abeokuta born politician said el-Rufai’s 65 years on earth had been for service to humanity despite the voice of dissent.
Showunmi said:
“My beloved Mallam Nasir, it is too late for anyone to attempt to belittle your role and contribution to our recent democratic journey.
Naturally, not everyone can accept or appreciate everything.
“On this occasion I encourage you to be measured especially now and under the present circumstances.
“As I have always told you, I believe you can look the North straight in the face and reform it if given the opportunity.
“Given the North’s potential, I strongly believe any sane patriot must be interested in the well-being of our people, our land, and all that concerns Nigeria in the North.
“Sometimes what people desire for evil mostly always turns out for our good if only we are patient, measured and strategic.
“Happy Birthday Mallam Nasir El-Rufai a confirmed disruptor who can cause a ripple that leads to a significant impact.
