The Egba-born politician also acknowledged Sam Daddy’s role in deepening democracy and supporting development in Nigeria, adding that his attainment of this fresh milestone was worth celebrating.
Below is the full statement:
“Happy Birthday, Sen Samuel Nnemeka Anyanwu. It is with a joyful heart that I wish you a happy 60th.
“I recall our relationship over the decades.
“Thinking through the years I have no recollection of you ever doing anything to hurt me or against me, you have always been a reliable, dependable and trustworthy man who keeps his side of any bargain.
“You love to entertain your friends and your strong belief in God as the giver of all things has been a great asset to you over the years and I must say it always pays off.
“On this day I want you to know that I am your friend who sticks closer than a brother.
“I feel the great burden you bear because of selfish reactionary forces who think themselves wiser and more committed than those of us who have been committed to our shared position over the years.
“You know that I will call it what it is no matter whose ox is gored. If I think you are wrong, considering all things, I won’t hesitate to tell you straight up on the vexatious issues of the national secretary of our party. You are right, and let the heavens fall if it must, for there is no giving one inch to these bullies.
“Stay strong and stay focused. You are a good man. For like I always say none is all good and none is all bad. Cheer up my man.
“May your best years commence the strong man of Ikeduru.
“Otunba Segun Showunmi”.
