A makeshift restaurant belonging to a woman called Victorine Bikoe in Mvog Ada, Yaoundé, Cameroon, has been demolished, while the owner was arrested for alleged food contamination.
The owner of the restaurant filmed herself urinating in a pot of freshly prepared Okok soup.
She was also seen using a spoon to mix the soup afterwards.
It is believed that Victorine used the contaminated food to unsuspecting members of the community.
It is also not clear how the video leaked, but the moment it hit social media, it went viral, leading to angry community members besieging her makeshift restaurant to destroy it.
Checks by veracitydesk.com revealed that Bikoe was picked up by security men for investigation.
After establishing that the incident did not take place in Nigeria, some concerned Nigerians spoke to Emmanuel Ajibulu, the editor-in-chief and publisher of Veracity Desk, about the horrible incident, one of them Olanrewaju Wasiu said, “Apart from the ‘spiritual’ implications of what Victorine did, the act also posed serious implications on public health as no one was sure whether she added some excrement in the pot as well.
Another regular reader and commentator who would not like her name to appear in the peint also said, “It is pretty sad to see people do some weird things in the name of money or other despicable, vicious, and reprehensible reasons. But the question that arises is how far can one go or rather how low can one stoop? Here in Nigeria too, we must be extra vigilant and rise to the occasion by ensuring that ethics, morality, and the law intersect within society.
“Our law enforcement agents and the entire legal system should not only administer justice, but also resonate with the community’s moral convictions so that public safety and health are not endangered”.
