The Presidency on Sunday dismissed as false a viral report alleging that an unnamed chef at the State House, Abuja, had been arrested over a purported plot to poison President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Reacting to the frightening development, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Tope Ajayi, described the claim as fake.

“Fake,” Ajayi said in a terse response when contacted on the matter.

The clarification followed the circulation of a report on some online platforms alleging that a member of the kitchen staff at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, had been apprehended in connection with an alleged attempt to poison the President.

The report, which cited no credible source or verifiable details, quickly gained traction on social media, sparking speculation and concern among members of the public.

In recent times, government officials have repeatedly warned against spreading unverified reports capable of undermining public confidence in state institutions.

As of press time, no security agency indicated an investigation or arrest linked to the allegation.
