The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has urged media practitioners in the country to demonstrate professionalism, accuracy and ethical responsibility in reporting economic and financial crimes.
Olukoyede, who was represented by DCE Ayo Oyewole, Head, Public Affairs, Lagos Zonal Directorate 1, gave the charge in a paper titled: “Reporting Economic and Financial Crimes: Relevant Legal Frameworks and Professional Best Practices”, delivered during a capacity-building workshop organised by Seplat Energy Plc on Wednesday, June 26, 2025 in Lagos.
According to the Executive Chairman, the task of reporting financial crimes was beyond routine journalism, as he added, “it is an act of citizenship that reinforces the pillars of justice, deters abuse of power, and upholds public trust”.
