His Royal Majesty Alayeluwa Oba Abdul Afeez Oriyomi Shittu (Adeyemi 1) Olu of Ibasa, Ijegun Egba, Oguntedo, Opetedo and Satellite Town, Lagos on Friday October 24, 2025, marked 5 years on the throne of his forebearers in a ceremony of prayers by various religious groups.
The epoch-making event under serene and peaceful atmosphere drew dignitaries from all over the world, including royalty, political leaders, academics, cultural icons, and tourists, transforming Satellite Town into the epicentre of African heritage and communal unity based on shared values, goals, and identity amidst social cohesion, mutual cooperation, and a collective spirit that fosters support, solidarity, and trust.
The opening prayer was conducted by Chief Imam of Ibasa/Ijegun Egba land, Alhaji Ismail Kareem, Reverend Olonode and Chief Arifanla Jogun Okikiola. This followed a welcome address by the Chief host, executive Chairman of Oriade LCDA.
Moments after the opening remark and speech delivered by the HRM Oba Oriyomi Shittu, the highly revered monarch also took turn to install new chiefs made of illustrious individuals who have immeasurably contributed to the development of the community socio-economically.
As part of the celebrations which showcased the rich artistic traditions of the Yoruba people through vibrant performances, traditional music, elaborate costumes, and colourful parades, Nigerian Fuji singer Saheed Osupa took to the stage to thrill thousands of attendees at First Bank Sport Complex, Ayinke Timpson Drive, Satellite Town.
Other prominent royal fathers in attendance who graced the auspicious occasion were Chairman Chieftaincy Committee, Amuwo Odofin HRM Oba Mobadenle Oyekan Onilado of Ilado and Inangbe Kingdom; Vice Chairman Chieftaincy Committee, Amuwo Odofin and Oriade, HRM Alayeluwa Oba Dr. Taofeeq Adegboyega Akeju (Awojo II).
