Nottingham Forest have officially tied down head coach Nuno Espírito Santo to a new contract running until 2028, rewarding the Portuguese manager after a record-breaking campaign.
In just 18 months at the helm, Nuno has transformed Forest from relegation battlers to European contenders. Last season’s seventh-place finish – the club’s highest in three decades – sealed their return to European football for the first time since 1995/96.
“I am delighted to be able to continue our journey at this fantastic football club,” Nuno told Forest’s official website on Saturday.
“We have worked extremely hard to create a special bond between the players, the fans and everyone at the Club, which helped us achieve great things last season.”
Since taking over in December 2023 with Forest languishing in 17th, Nuno has overseen one of the most remarkable turnarounds in Premier League history.
His side not only survived that season but thrived the next, defeating champions Liverpool at Anfield – their only home loss – and collecting three Manager of the Month awards, more than any other coach in 2024/25.
Nuno also paid tribute to club owner Evangelos Marinakis, saying, “It is important to me to share a strong relationship with our ownership and we have thoroughly enjoyed working together ever since I arrived at Forest.”
Forest will kick off their 2025/26 campaign at home to Brentford on Saturday 16 August, before turning their attention to UEFA Conference League qualification – a testament to the club’s remarkable rise under Nuno’s leadership.
