The Ministry of Defense in Qatar has joined the US, Israel attack against Iran, announcing that the country’s armed forces shot down two Iranian SU-24 aircraft and intercepted several missiles and drones targeting multiple locations across the state.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Directorate of Moral Guidance in Doha, the ministry said the Qatar Armed Forces successfully neutralized the threats following what it described as immediate detection and swift operational response.
According to the statement, the Qatar Emiri Air Force shot down two SU-24 fighter jets originating from the Islamic Republic of Iran. Air defence systems also intercepted seven ballistic missiles before they reached their intended targets.
In addition, five drones were intercepted through joint efforts by the Qatar Emiri Air Force and the Qatar Emiri Navy.
The ministry said all projectiles were destroyed in accordance with the country’s operational defence plan, preventing any impact on targeted areas.
It attributed the success of the operation to “the high level of readiness and joint coordination among the relevant authorities,” expressing gratitude “to Allah the Almighty” for the outcome.
The defence ministry reaffirmed that Qatar’s armed forces possess the full capability and resources to protect the nation’s sovereignty and territory, vowing to respond firmly to any external threat.
Authorities also urged citizens, residents and visitors to remain calm, follow official security instructions, avoid spreading rumours, and rely solely on information issued through official channels.
“May Allah protect Qatar, its Amir, its people and all those residing on its land,” the statement concluded.
