Lagos State Government Hosts High-Level Stakeholder Engagement on Safety in Dredging and Sand Mining Sector

The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Safety Commission is set to host a significant stakeholder engagement which is focused on ensuring safety of lives and properties across dredging workplaces in Lagos State.

This collaborative event is holding in partnership with the Dredging Association of Nigeria, and will bring together key stakeholders to discuss critical safety standards in dredging and sand mining sectors.

The high profile event was scheduled for Monday October 28, 2024, at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), 10 Dr. Nurudeen Olowopopo Way, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, by 10:00 a.m prompt. This engagement underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing safety protocols and ensuring industry-wide compliance with both local and international standards.

The event will be graced by notable personalities, including the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Waterfront, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, the Director-General of the Lagos State Safety Commission, and the President of the Dredging Association. Each will bring unique perspectives to the discussions, reinforcing a collaborative approach to workplace safety and sustainable practices within the dredging industry.

According to the schedule of the event, the welcome address will be made by the Director-General of the Lagos State Safety Commission, followed by goodwill messages from the Ministries of Waterfront and Energy, as well as ATBOWATON.

The agenda will equally cover safety moments, key presentations on current safety challenges, and a Question & Answer session, this will accordingly present an interactive platform for addressing concerns and exploring solutions.

The Lagos State Government however encourages active participation from all stakeholders within the dredging and mining sectors as the policy dialogue aims to foster a shared commitment to safeguarding lives and fostering a safe and secure working environment for all and sundry.
