The Chief Judge of Lagos State, Hon. Justice Kazeem O. Alogba has sworn in 50 new Notaries Public recently at the High Court complex, Ikeja, Lagos.
Administering the oath of office, Hon. Justice Alogba charged the newly appointed Notaries Public to uphold the integrity, authenticity, and diligence required of their position.
He emphasised the crucial role they play in the judiciary and the legal system, stressing that all notarised documents must be legal, genuine, and carefully verified before endorsement.
“The authenticity and accuracy of the documents you handle are of utmost importance, as they often have both national and international implications,” he stated.
He further cautioned against allowing unauthorised persons to use their official stamps, noting that such an act contravenes the rule of law.
While highlighting the contribution of the Notary Public to the speedy administration of justice, the Chief Judge urged the appointees to maintain the highest professional standards in the discharge of their duties.
Speaking on behalf of the newly sworn-in officials, Mr. Aderemi Oluseyi, SAN, pledged their commitment to upholding the trust and confidence reposed in them.
“We will not take this office for granted. We are determined to make the Chief Judge and the entire Lagos State Judiciary proud,” he assured.
