Community leader, business owner and human rights activist, Chief (Comrade) Austine Ikubese has advocated that patience, tolerance and understanding are the ingredients that spice up the love for a successful marriage.
Chief Ikubese made the remarks on Friday while speaking to newsmen to mark the thirty-ninth wedding anniversary ceremony between himself and his beloved wife, a former special Adviser on Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) to Oriade Local Council Development Area (LCDA), in Lagos State, Hon. Sarah Ikubese.
The jubilant father of three, and father of former Mr. Nigeria, Emmanuel Ikubese described the celebration as a significant milestone that deserves a grand celebration and profound gratitude to God.
He further maintained that the 39th anniversary symbolizes the wisdom gained through experience and the beauty formed over time with strong love that has produced remarkable blessings, children, grandchildren with abiding fullfilment.
According to Chief Ikubese, he will marry his wife over and over again even as he described her a gift of God and an exhibition of love to him. He added that it won’t be out of place to reignite their marital vows to each other and exchanged rings.
He stressed further, “this celebration has become an annual routine for the family to celebrate God’s abundant grace and mercies.”
While showing appreciation and acknowledgement to the prayers, gifts, and kind words received from children, friends, family members, staff and well-wishers Chief Ikubese said:
“I thank everyone most profoundly for the show of love and for celebrating with me and my adorable wife having been into a marital bliss for almost four decades, precisely February 13, 1987. I make bold to say love and understanding remain the recipe for a successful marriage and I thank God for the journey so far.
“One more impressive and cherished moment was that my wife and I were the first couple to be celebrated and published by The Saturday title of The Sun newspaper of January 10, 2015 in the Diamond Couple segment of the media house. Such sweet memories remain indelible in our hearts as one big and strong family.
“The day I got married was the day I realized that God loves me. I deeply treasure my wife and my wonderful children. God bless the day I met my wife, I remain grateful to Him”, the rights activist added.
