The 2023 Imo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Imo West Senatorial District, Rt. Hon. Sir Jones Chukwudi Victor Onyereri, has expressed sympathy to victims of Tuesday’s Abuja–Kaduna train derailment, adding that he was grateful to God no lives were lost.
It is recalled that the passenger train, which departed Abuja around 11 a.m., was reported to have derailed along the well-known corridor en route to Kaduna, throwing passengers into panic.
Though no casualties were immediately confirmed, eyewitnesses said the derailment caused confusion as stranded commuters scampered to safety.
Onyereri who represented the Nkwerre / Isu / Njaba / Nwangele Federal Constituency of Imo State in the House of Representatives from 2011 to 2019 in a terse message made available to newsmen including Veracity Desk (veracitydesk.com) said:
“I sympathize with all passengers and families affected by the Abuja–Kaduna train derailment. We thank God Almighty that no life was lost in this unfortunate incident.
“May the injured recover quickly, and may this serve as a wake-up call to improve the safety of our transport systems. Our prayers and thoughts remain with everyone who went through this frightening experience.
