Ibadan businessman and publisher of The Street Journal Newspaper, Mogaji Wole Arisekola, on Saturday, January 11, 2025 advised Nigerians to invest in human capital, should the society intend to attain greatness and reduce deviant behaviors.
Arisekola who is the National Chairman of the Association of Media Practitioners Online in Nigeria (AMPON), added that it would be disingenuous for anyone to try to be identified with those who struggled to be successful on their own “because you had no part in it.”
He further stressed, “Don’t claim credit for helping people when you didn’t contribute.”
The celebrity journalist dropped the nugget on his social media platforms and also received by Veracity Desk (veracitydesk.com) in an attempt to build consciousness in the minds of privileged individuals who have the opportunity of transforming the life’s trajectory of brilliant but indigent demography in the society by positively influencing them with their benevolence, kindness and charity courses.
Below is Arisekola’s advise on investment in human capital development in bold italics:
Invest in younger generations
If people truly matter to you, invest in their lives. If you don’t invest in them, don’t pretend they matter to you, and stay away from their success when God blesses them, because you had no part in it.
Don’t suddenly show up in the life of a successful person and call them your own. What did you contribute to their journey? It’s surprising how many people don’t invest in others but still expect to benefit. It doesn’t work that way.
If you weren’t there during my struggles, celebrate my success from a distance. Don’t come close.
That’s why many people say, ‘Can you believe I helped, and no one acknowledged me?’ That’s not true.
It’s impossible to genuinely invest in others and have God elevate them, only for them to forget you.
Don’t claim credit for helping people when you didn’t contribute.
