Lagos-based rights activist and community leader, Chief (Comrade) Austine Ikubese has appealed to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Barrister Festus Keyamo, SAN, to forgive and help facilitate the release of the passenger on Ibom Air, Comfort Emmanson who had been remanded in Kirikiri Prisons for assaulting air hostesses at the Murtala Mohammed Airport on Sunday in Lagos.
Ikubese in an appeal to Keyamo, noted that while Ms. Emmanson is in jail, the other offender who had previously committed a more severe offence has not been held to the same standard.
He added that the release of the lady was necessary so that the government of the day would not be misconstrued to be maintaining double standards in the dispensation of justice whilst trying to maintain safety standards and discipline at the nation’s airports.
Chief Ikubese who condemned the action of Comfort, in another breath frowned at the viral video showing Ibom Air staff forcefully evacuating the young lady like human cargo, stripped her naked, humiliated her under video recording, and speedily charged her to court, having violated her dignity and fundamental human rights.
In his private appeal to the minister Monday night, Comrade Ikubese wrote:
“Good evening Olorogun the Hon Minister of Aviation and Aerospace, let me start by thanking you for your courage to stand for EQUITY, JUSTICE AND FAIRNESS in the unruly behaviour of KWAM 1 and the above statement made concerning Comfort Emmanson, the Ibom Airline Passenger, we all agreed she behaved very badly but she was manhandled by the Ibom air staff and rushing her to court by pressing charges against her after this public show of shame they exposed her to, is like double punishment and the public will view it as oppressing the common man and allowing a Celebrity KWAM 1 whom his actions can be seen as attempting to hiijack and endanger the lives of all the passengers in the Aircraft the opportunity to apologise to Nigerians, below is the pictures exposing this lady private body by the Ibom Airline Staff.
“Your Excellency as a friend and a brother am joining good spirited Nigerian’s to appeal to you for this lady to be bail or release from Kirikiri asap so this Government will not be seen as maintaining double standards when it comes to JUSTICE..
“Best regards
Comrade Chief Austine Ikubese..”
