So much has been said about the enigmatic Group Managing Director of Sahara Power Group, Dr. Kola Adesina MFR. His story resonates the power of hard work, resilience, and determination. From humble beginnings to becoming one of Africa’s leading influencers in energy sector, oil and gas, insurance and academia, his journey is an inspiration to youths across the continent.
Born in August 12, 1964, Adesina’s early life was marked by challenges and struggles. However, his parents instilled in him the value of education and entrepreneurship. He pursued higher education in the University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos with a burning desire to make a positive difference and add value to humanity.
Adesina’a entrepreneurial spirit led him to venture into the electricity value chain, where he faced numerous challenges, but God has always been there for him to break barriers, unlock opportunities while also gaining dominance and relevance. Today by the grace of God is the Chairman of Ikeja Electric Plc with many laurels and attendant accomplishments.

Loved by his wife, Mosunmola and his amazing children; Adesina has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to hard work and perseverance. From his early days as a young entrepreneur to his current status as a legitimate billionaire, Dr Adesina has always been willing to put in the effort required to achieve his goals even as he sees opportunities in every challenge.
In addition, Adesina’a entrepreneurial spirit has been a driving force behind his success. He has always been willing to take calculated risks and explore new opportunities. The launch of Sahara Power for instance, was a bold move that revolutionized the power sector in Nigeria. Sir, as you turn 61 today (August 12, 2025), I say, happy birthday to a legendary leader with the large heart of father, a dogged goal getter with gentle spirit, a rare combination of charisma and calmness. A man of integrity, dignity, class, finesse and decency.
With no iota of doubt, you are a master of entrepreneurial tact and craft. Through thick and thin, you have charted a course for the Africa’s business climate that has since become a envy of many nations, and making the journey to the promised land more realistic and easier.
You are a leader of leaders, mentor of mentees, in you many of us see a tree fast become a great forest by masterfully raising and mentoring a high profile leaders unto greatness.
