Ex-President Jonathan, Gbenga Daniel, Wole Olanipekun Other Dignitaries Present As Kola Adesina Buries Mother In Lagos
The funeral of Madam Adejumoke Awero Adesina, mother of Group Managing Director of Sahara Group, board Chairman of Ikeja Electric Plc, and Chairman of AXA Mansard Insurance Plc, took place on Friday, June 6, 2025 in Lagos.
The funeral service was held at Trinity Towers the Redeemed Christian Church of God, City of David, Lagos and was officiated by Pastors Gbenga Tapere, Alex Okoh, Supo Oluwasakin and Segun Olujobi.
In attendance were mama’s children namely Kolawole, Atinuke, Adebowale, Ajoke, and Temitope alongside their spouses and children as well as top dignitaries, politicians, and governors from across the country.
The high profile event witnessed numerous outpour of love and respect for the extraordinary mother and grandmother who just departed (madam Adejumoke). The service, a poignant blend of solemnity and celebration, painted a vivid picture of a life well-lived, a life that touched countless hearts.
At the event, family members of the deceased were dressed in matching white lace and brown mixed with white Aso Oke outfits.
Mama’s biography was also read after which, the facilitating minister, Pastor Gbenga Tapere, delivered the sermon. This was followed by thanksgiving and prayer sessions.
Giving the vote of thanks on behalf of the family, Dr Kola Adesina gave a glowing tribute about her mum and as well appreciated family members, ministers of God, friends and bussiness associates, thanking them for their continuous support, care and prayers. He also thanked all the guests present at the service.
Among the dignitaries were former President Goodluck Jonathan GCFR, former Governor of Ogun State, Senator (Otunba) Gbenga Daniel, legal luminary Chief Wole Olanipekun OFR, SAN, President of African Development Bank Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina CON, representative of the Olu of Warri His Royal Majesties, Ogiame Atuwatse III, former information minister, Frank Nweke Jnr, Rivers State All Progressives Congress (APC) 2023 guber candidate, Pastor Tonye Cole, Dr. Tunji Olugbodi, Executive Vice Chairman of Verdant Zeal Group.
Other notable figures included the Hydrographer of the Federation, Rear Admiral Ayodeji OlugbodeRear Admiral Ayo Olugbode, Managing Director of Ikeja Electric Plc, Folake Soetan and her spouse, representative of National Chairman of Association of Online Media Practitioners of Nigeria (AMPON) Wole Arisekola, media entrepreneur Adebola Williams, publisher of Veracity Desk and his wife Emmanuel and Jumoke Ajibulu, Felix Adekeye, Lola Sanu numerous business magnates, top personalities, and captains of industries.
The well attended funeral service was followed by a private interment.
