The Edo State House of Assembly has passed the Bill to Amend the Secret Cult and Similar Activities Prohibition Law 2025.
The bill was passed following the presentation and consideration of a report by the House Committee on Security and Public Safety, submitted by its Chairman, Rt. Hon. Maria Edeko.
The House thereafter resolved into the Committee of the Whole to adopt the committee’s two findings and one recommendation before conducting a clause-by-clause consideration of the bill.
During plenary, the Assembly also received 30 copies of an executive bill from the Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, titled A Bill for a Law to Establish the Edo State Emergency Management Agency.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Blessing Sherriff Agbebaku, referred the bill to the Committee on Rules, Business, and Government House for further action.
Also at plenary, the following bills were stepped down for consideration at a later date:
A Bill to Amend the Edo State Lottery Establishment Law, Edo State Lottery Regulation, and Matters Connected Therewith, 2025.
A Bill to Amend the Edo Rural Access Road Agency (RARA) Law for the overall management, rehabilitation, construction, reconstruction, and maintenance of Class C and D roads in Edo State, and for other matters connected therewith (First Reading).
The House thereafter adjourned sitting to Monday, 1st December 2025.
