In a bid to tackle economic challenges using data-driven solutions, the Students of Covenant University has advanced their data analytics expertise through an intensive two-day training program.
Held at the African Development Bank Center of Excellence, the program was organized by McAnderson Institute of Technology in partnership with the African Development Bank.
The training focused on equipping students with in-demand skills to navigate Nigeria’s evolving economy.
Led by Boluwatife Oludipin, a Google-certified Data Analyst from McAnderson, the course provided hands-on exercises and practical applications of data analytics, helping students develop skills that are critical for identifying and solving complex economic issues.
Oludipin’s structured sessions covered essential tools and methodologies relevant across sectors, preparing students to apply their knowledge in ways that can drive economic growth.
The program also featured a panel of industry experts, including Frederick Oscar, Lead Data Scientist at Adioo Technologies Ltd; Godwin Ebong, a UK-based Data Engineer; Hope Oladele, a Data Analyst in the UK; and Babafemi Ogundipe, a Senior Software Engineer at Chevron.
These experts shared insights on how data analytics can be used to address economic challenges, encouraging students to think critically about their role in Nigeria’s economic future.
A final “Ask a Mentor Anything” session, led by Frederick Oscar, allowed students to connect with the panel directly, gaining valuable guidance on career paths and industry trends.
Frederick Oscar, an expert mentor and facilitator emphasized the importance of data analytics in today’s economic climate, stating, “These students will play a crucial role in Nigeria’s tech-driven economy.” His comments highlight how data-driven skills are increasingly essential to overcoming economic hurdles.
Godwin Ebong, a Global Talent in the UK discussed the impact of data literacy on economic innovation, adding, “This training equipped students with skills that can help drive economic development and address real-world challenges.”
Hope Oladele, a Data Science expert expressed optimism about the students’ future contributions, stating, “Data analytics is a powerful tool for solving complex economic problems and driving progress.” He praised the training program’s emphasis on practical skills and mentorship, which he believes will prepare students to make meaningful contributions.
Babafemi Ogundipe,, Expert mentor and facilitator explained the link between data analytics and economic resilience, noting, “In today’s economy, data skills are indispensable for driving sustainable growth.” He voiced confidence that the students’ new skills would enable them to play a part in Nigeria’s economic stability.
Ajiboye Ayobamidele, COO of McAnderson Institute of Technology, reiterated the organization’s commitment to equipping students with skills to navigate a challenging economic landscape. He noted that the program bridges the gap between academic learning and real-world industry needs, preparing students to contribute effectively to Nigeria’s economy.
