AWLA Condemns Killing of Princess Meadrixt Chigbo, Demands Justice

Spread the love

The African Women Lawyers Association (AWLA), Abuja Branch, is deeply saddened and outraged by the brutal killing of Princess Meadrixt Chigbo by suspected “One Chance” operators in Abuja. This tragic loss is not just the death of a promising young woman, but a painful reminder of the growing insecurity that women face daily in the Federal Capital Territory.

Princess Meadrixt was full of life, talent, and potentials. Her light was extinguished far too soon, and our hearts go out to her family, friends, and loved ones. We share in their grief and stand with them in this difficult time. This is not just their tragedy — it is ours as a community, as women, and as Nigerians.

We condemn this senseless act in the strongest terms. Women have become the overwhelming victims of these “One Chance” criminals, and the situation is intolerable. Enough is enough. We demand:

  • A swift and transparent investigation into Princess Meadrixt’s killing.
  • The immediate arrest and prosecution of all those responsible.
  • Urgent security reforms to protect women and vulnerable citizens from the rising tide of violent crimes in Abuja.

Silence and inaction only embolden criminals. This tragedy must be a turning point in the fight against gender-based violence and insecurity. We call on law enforcement agencies to act decisively and restore public confidence.

As we mourn, we also call on Nigerians to honour Princess Meadrixt’s memory not just with tears, but with renewed commitment to stand against violence, to protect one another, and to demand accountability from those entrusted with our safety.

We stand united in grief, demanding justice, and praying for strength amongst her family members.
