Lagos-based rights activist and community leader, Chief (Comrade) Austine Ikubese has expressed sadness over the demise of his mentor and close ally, Olorogun Oskar Ibru.

Veracity Desk had earlier reported the passing of the Delta State born business mogul and chairman of the Ibru Organisation on Tuesday, September 24, 2025 who breathed his last at the age of 67.

The deceased was instrumental in sustaining and expanding the conglomerate established by his late father, Olorogun Michael Ibru, whose business empire covered shipping, oil and gas, real estate, and commerce.

In an emotionally-laden terse message, Chief Ikubese said the late Olorogun’s memories will forever be etched in the annals of Nigeria’s history especially in the business climate.

Ikubese who is also an illustrious and iconic figure from Delta State noted that Ibru’s death will leave a huge vacuum in the lives of many including himself. He also referenced the good deeds they both nurtured in their 40 years of healthy and symbiotic relationship.

Ikubese wrote:

“What a sad day! I am still struggling to believe that you left this world this morning. Olorogun Oskar Ibru, you were a friend, a brother and a godfather to me. For over 40 years you mentored me, watched me becoming the man, father and grandfather that I am today.

“You believed so much in me. You loved the Ikubese’s family like your family, we have projects we’re still working on, still struggling to believe you left this world this morning…..Olorogun Oscar Ibru, rest in peace.”
