Ibadan businessman and publisher of The Street Journal Newspaper, Mogaji Wole Arisekola has tasked Oyo State government and other key stakeholders to invest heavily in science and technology as well as agricultural research for the state to meet the demands of today’s technologically driven world.
Arisekola who is also the National Chairman of the Association of Online Media Practitioners in Nigeria (AMPCON) made this call in a statement he populated on his social media handles and made available to newsmen including Veracity Desk (veracitydesk.com) on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
The celebrity journalist, further advised the citizenry to embrace the visionary governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde and continue to criticize him constructively, where necessary for the overall good of the state.
While also acknowledging that Oyo State is ranked as one of the best-performing states in mechanized farming in Nigeria, Arisekola however emphasized the need to cleverly invest in competitive innovation, resilience and strategic foresight for Oyo to consistently remain a pacesetter.
According to him:
“Investing in Science and Technology will make us great in Oyo State. Let us invest in agricultural research and position our State in an enviable place in the world.
“Your religion is your personal choice and part of your private life—don’t disturb others with it. Oyo State is ranked as one of the best-performing states in mechanized farming in Nigeria.
“Let us embrace our visionary governor and continue to criticize him constructively. After all, life without criticism is not worth living. When the election comes in 2027, we will do it the way we did in 2023. May God grant the governor the wisdom to choose an intelligent successor like himself.
“But se ri awon ara bi yen, won ti get ara won.” (You see those people, they are not yet ready for the election). Their structure is not solid enough to win the gubernatorial election in Oyo State.
“But they will not listen—anyone who tells them the truth becomes their enemy. They are politically naive and do not understand that winning an election requires building a political structure that can stand the test of time.
“Arrogance and feeling too big will soon end their political careers.
“Wetin I know self? I’m not a politician, jare!
