A gubernatorial aspirant in Kwara State, (North Central Nigeria) on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Kehinde Alex Bankole, has offered his condolences to the family of former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lt. General Jeremiah Useni, 82, on the passing of the politician, whose influence and contributions to Nigeria’s political affairs remain indelible.
The famous entrepreneur, philanthropist and astute politician in a statement he personally released on Friday, said Useni’s death was a great loss to Nigeria, Tarok nation, Armed Forces and the North Central region where he, (Bankole) belonged.
“Late General Jeremiah Useni was a man of impeccable character, courageous and fearless. I can recall vividly that apart from serving as Minister of FCT, Abuja, the deceased also served as Minister of Transport and Quarter-Master General of the Nigerian Army, among several other appointments during his illustrious military career.
“After retirement from the Military, his foray into politics equally earned him the Deputy Chairmanship position of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) and Senator of the Federal Republic. He was also the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Plateau State during the 2019 general elections. He would be missed truly missed.
“I therefore, join the entire people of the North Central, Governor/Government of Plateau State, Armed Forces, Tarok nation, Nigeria as a whole, his friends and associates in mourning the loss, believing Useni’s legacies will be approximated for posterity”, Dr Bankole stated.
The Kwara governorship aspirant also prayed that late Useni’s soul would find rest with the Lord.
