49 years ago, our paths crossed (that’s a story for another time. It’s a story to be told next year, most likely 🙏🏽). Over the many years since then, I have watched you walk this journey of life with unwavering purpose, boundless energy, and an unshakable commitment to Africa’s transformation. Although decades have passed, your laser-focused vision has remained steadfast—building a continent that develops and thrives with dignity, uplifts its people, and stands tall among nations.
It is for this reason a few years ago that I coined the phrase in your honor as “Africa’s Optimist-In-Chief.” I think I should know, having witnessed you traverse enormous challenges, even when it looked like figurative mountains where impossible to overcome.
Simply put, your life is a testament to excellence, resilience, and the power of audacious dreams. As a leader, you have helped re-shape Africa’s narrative. You stand toe-to-toe boldly, humbly yet wisely with global leaders, not as a mere presence at the table but consistently as an innovative solutions provider for the many needs of millions of Africa.
As a rare and unique visionary, you have shown what is possible when bold ideas meet determined action.
