President Bola Tinubu has celebrated the outstanding achievement of Nigerian-born dermatologist, Dr Bolu Ogunyemi, following his election as the President-elect of the Canadian Medical Association (CMA).
Tinubu described Dr Ogunyemi’s accomplishment as a source of pride for Nigeria, praising his rise as a testament to dedication, excellence, and visionary leadership in the global medical community.
Ogunyemi, a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Memorial University of Newfoundland, has served as a visiting dermatologist in Labrador City since 2018, garnering recognition for his expertise and commitment to patient care.
With 15 years of leadership experience, he is poised to lead the CMA into a new era of growth and innovation.
Tinubu expressed confidence in Ogunyemi’s ability to elevate the association’s impact, describing his election as a fitting acknowledgment of his contributions to medicine and his unwavering focus on the welfare of others.
Anticipating the formal approval of Ogunyemi’s presidency at the CMA Annual General Meeting in May 2025, Tinubu urged him to embrace inclusivity and forge strong partnerships with colleagues, including those who vied for the role.
The President also assured Ogunyemi of the Nigerian government’s support and prayers as he prepares to take on this significant leadership position.
