CNA Begins Pre-Retirement Leave As NASS Set For Change Of Leadership Guard

The National Assembly is poised to get a new Clerk, consequent upon the commencement of the pre-retirement leave of the outgoing Clerk, Sani Magaji Tambuwal.

The process of succession began on Thursday when Tambuwal got his Deputy, Kamoru Ogunlana, introduced to the President of the Senate and chairman of the joint session, of the National Assembly, Senator, Godswill Akpabio.

As it is the tradition and following precedents, the Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly is, most times, the natural successor to the office any time the CNA vacates office.

This happened to former deputies like Nasir Arab, Ogunyomi Ogunyemi, Salisu Abubakar Maikasuwa, and has now been replicated with the incumbent Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana.

In retrospect, most Clerks to the National Assembly have always been staff members who transferred their services from their states to the National Assembly and ended up being the head of the bureaucracy of the NASS.

From 1999, Alhaji Ibrahim Salim, transferred his service from the Kano state government to the national assembly.

Alhaji Nasir Arab did the same from Kaduna state government to the national assembly.

Prince Ogunyomi Ogunyemi also followed the same path from Lagos State to the national assembly.

Alhaji Salisu Abubakar Maikasuwa did the same from Federal Capital Territory Administration to the national assembly.

Alhaji Mohammed Sani Ataba Omolori, moved from Ajaokuta steel rolling mill to the national assembly.

Architect Ojo Olatunde also charted that trajectory from the Oyo state government to the national assembly.

Alhaji Sani Magaji Tambuwal moved from Sokoto state government to the national assembly.

As Kamoru Ogunlana gets set to step in, as the next Clerk to the national assembly any moment from now, he’ll be the first employee of the national assembly to achieve the feat.

Kamoru Ogunlana is the first staff member of NASS, who was freshly employed in the early 90s by the national assembly, that would climb to the topmost echelon of the bureaucracy.

Ogunlana is not a stranger to the national assembly administration.

His knowledge of the institution and operations is vast and deep.

As staff members await his administration, their welfare is one critical area they are expecting an improvement to further consolidate what the outgoing CNA has done.

Staff members will be expecting that, as one with the knowledge and experience of a lawyer, the national assembly will, indeed, be a place where rule of law and due process hallmark official interactions.

  1. One thing I have actually noticed is that there are plenty of common myths regarding the banks intentions if talking about home foreclosure. One fable in particular is the fact that the bank wishes to have your house. The lender wants your dollars, not your own home. They want the funds they loaned you together with interest. Steering clear of the bank will simply draw some sort of foreclosed final result. Thanks for your posting.
