…Pledges Massive Community Mobilisation to Sustain Achievements Across Enugu
A prominent community leader from Akpugo in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State, Chief Simon Eze, has reaffirmed strong grassroots support for the re-election of Governor Peter Mbah in 2027, describing the governor as a visionary leader whose economic policies and development-driven approach are laying the foundation for sustainable prosperity across the state.
Chief Eze made the declaration while reacting to Governor Mbah’s remarks at the opening of the 48th Regular Meeting of the National Council on Agriculture and Food Security in Enugu, where the governor stressed that agricultural development must go beyond increasing food production and focus on creating economic value through processing, efficient transportation, infrastructure development and market access.
According to the respected community leader, Governor Mbah’s position reflects a deep understanding of the challenges confronting Nigeria’s agricultural sector and demonstrates the kind of strategic leadership required to transform agriculture from subsistence farming into a major driver of economic growth, employment and wealth creation.
He said the governor’s emphasis on value addition, agro-processing and market connectivity aligns with global best practices and represents a significant departure from traditional approaches that focus solely on increasing harvests without addressing post-harvest losses and market inefficiencies.
Chief Eze noted that the governor has consistently shown a commitment to building a modern economy in Enugu State through investments in infrastructure, agriculture, education, healthcare and security, adding that the people are already witnessing the positive impact of these initiatives in their communities.
“Governor Peter Mbah has demonstrated exceptional leadership by identifying the missing links in the agricultural value chain. Producing more food alone is not enough. Farmers must have access to processing facilities, functional roads, storage systems and ready markets where they can earn fair returns on their investments. This is exactly what the governor is advocating, and it is a vision that has the potential to revolutionise agriculture in Enugu State and beyond,” Chief Eze stated.
The community leader praised Mbah for drawing national attention to the need for agriculture to serve as a catalyst for economic transformation rather than merely a means of food production, stressing that the governor’s strategy would enhance farmers’ incomes, stimulate rural development and attract private sector investment into the agricultural sector.
Expressing confidence in the governor’s leadership, Chief Eze declared that communities across Akpugo and the wider Nkanu West area remain solidly behind Mbah and are fully committed to supporting his re-election bid in 2027.
He pledged to embark on extensive grassroots sensitisation campaigns to ensure that residents across rural and urban communities are fully informed about the governor’s achievements and ongoing development programmes.
According to him, the task ahead is to sustain public awareness of the administration’s successes and ensure that citizens appreciate the long-term benefits of the policies being implemented across different sectors.
“We will continue to take the message of Governor Mbah’s achievements to every ward, village and community. The governor has earned the confidence of the people through his performance, and we believe his developmental agenda deserves continuity beyond 2027.
