A prominent stakeholder from Akpugo in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State, Chief Simon Eze, has lauded Governor Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for what he described as visionary leadership, transparent governance, and a relentless drive to transform Enugu State into a leading industrial and economic hub in Nigeria.
Reacting to Governor Mbah’s comprehensive manifesto performance update presented on Thursday at the Peter Mbah Law Auditorium of Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, Chief Eze said the governor had once again demonstrated an unwavering commitment to accountable leadership and people-oriented governance.
According to him, the decision by Governor Mbah to return to the same venue where he unveiled his manifesto before the 2023 governorship election and present a performance report to the people speaks volumes about his respect for democratic accountability and social contract with the citizens.
Chief Eze noted that Governor Mbah’s administration has, within a relatively short period, embarked on a series of ambitious infrastructural, educational, healthcare, agricultural, transportation, and security reforms that are steadily repositioning Enugu as the preferred destination for investment, commerce, tourism, and enterprise.
He described the governor’s development blueprint as “a bold and transformative roadmap capable of restoring Enugu’s historical status as the economic heartbeat of the Southeast and a major growth centre for Nigeria.”
The stakeholder particularly praised the administration’s emphasis on economic expansion and wealth creation, noting that the governor’s target of growing the state’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion reflects strategic thinking and a deep understanding of the economic realities of a rapidly changing world.
“Governor Peter Mbah has shown remarkable courage, focus, and determination in pursuing projects that many previously considered unattainable. Today, the visible transformation across Enugu State is evidence that purposeful leadership can indeed accelerate development and inspire confidence among investors and citizens alike,” Chief Eze stated.
He further remarked that the governor’s efforts to restore public confidence, improve security, rehabilitate infrastructure, modernize public services, and create an enabling environment for businesses were already yielding positive results.
“Before Governor Mbah assumed office, many people had begun to lose confidence in the prospects of Enugu State. Businesses were looking elsewhere, economic activities were constrained, and critical infrastructure required urgent attention. However, through strategic planning and decisive governance, the administration has successfully changed the narrative,” he said.
Chief Eze added that the governor’s development initiatives extend beyond Enugu State and possess the potential to unlock the enormous economic potential of the Southeast region.
“Governor Mbah’s vision transcends state boundaries. His infrastructure and economic development agenda can serve as a catalyst for broader regional integration, industrialization, and economic prosperity. The Southeast stands to benefit immensely from the innovative policies and strategic investments currently being pursued by the Enugu State Government,” he added.
He also applauded the governor for fostering a culture of transparency and measurable governance, arguing that democratic leadership is strengthened when elected officials periodically render account of their stewardship before the people.
According to him, the manifesto performance presentation provides citizens with an opportunity to evaluate government performance based on tangible outcomes rather than political rhetoric.
Chief Eze therefore urged Ndi Enugu to continue supporting Governor Mbah’s administration, stressing that the governor has demonstrated the capacity, competence, and vision required to deliver sustainable economic growth and shared prosperity.
“History will be kind to leaders who place development above politics and who remain committed to the welfare of their people. Governor Peter Mbah’s performance update has reaffirmed his commitment to building a prosperous, globally competitive Enugu State. The people should continue to rally behind this vision so that the gains already recorded can be consolidated for future generations,” Chief Eze concluded.
