Renowned gospel singer and minister, Evangelist Tope Alabi, has issued a stern warning to individuals and platforms allegedly responsible for circulating what she describes as false, misleading, and defamatory claims about her, vowing to pursue legal action against offenders.
In a public notice obtained by Veracity Desk (veracitydesk.com) and released through her solicitors, Oakmount Legal Practitioners, the celebrated gospel artiste, whose full name is Patricia Temitope Alabi, said her reputation, built over nearly three decades of ministry, music, and public service, remains a valuable asset that will be vigorously protected.
The legal notice stated that the award-winning gospel minister has become aware of the circulation of allegedly injurious statements about her through various channels, including traditional media, online platforms, broadcasts, and word-of-mouth communication.
According to the notice, Tope Alabi has instructed her lawyers to commence legal proceedings against any individual or entity found to have made or disseminated defamatory publications concerning her. The legal team indicated that affected parties could face claims for substantial damages, court injunctions, compulsory retractions, public apologies, and the payment of legal costs.
The notice further emphasized that the gospel icon reserves the right to explore all remedies available under Nigerian law and may also refer appropriate matters to relevant authorities where necessary.
While taking a firm stance against defamation, the statement clarified that the move is not intended to suppress legitimate public discourse, truthful reporting, fair comment, or constitutionally protected freedom of expression.
The development comes amid heightened concerns over the growing spread of unverified information and reputational attacks on public figures through digital and social media platforms.
With the warning now formally issued, observers say the move signals a readiness by the revered gospel minister to take decisive legal steps to safeguard her image and legacy against what her legal representatives describe as damaging falsehoods.
