A private firm, Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), says it has developed technologies to fight against crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta.
Tantita is operated by High Chief (Dr.) Government Ekpemupolo a.k.a Tompolo.
Speaking at the maiden Pan-Ijaw Economic Summit 2024, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, TSSNL’s Executive Director, Operation and Technical, Captain Warredi Enisuoh, said with the deployment of drones and satellite images, the company is able to know when the oil infrastructures are tampered.
Enisuoh, while x- raying the topic, ‘ Environmental Regeneration and Economic Sustainability,’ noted that the company had been deliberate in the fight against oil theft since its existence, adding that the result was a boost in Nigeria’s oil production.
He explained that rather than engage in illegal oil bunkering which eventually destroys the environment and their sources of living, communities can take advantage of the rich mangrove forest of the region.
He stated: “If they (communities) do not pollute the environment any further, these trees can thrive and we will be able to take stock of these trees and able to generate income for the companies that scream carbon. These companies are around the world.”
“Many of them are willing to partner with the region like this in exchange for green in development, to participate in industrial development that is not going to create further carbon emissions, create more global warming and also, able to improve the health and well-being of the inhabitants of the region alongside with the development they are going to face.”
