Book On Immediate Past Olubadan For Launch On Oct 22

A book on the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Lekan Balogun, is set to launch in the ancient city of Ibadan. The launch of the book is expected to be the high point of a symposium on the late monarch who reigned between March 11, 2022, and March 14, 2024.

Written by an educationist, Dr Layo Adeniyi, “Life and Times of 42nd Olubadan” chronicles the Ibadan chieftaincy traditional system and delves more about the life and time of the Late politician-turned monarch.

Consisting of 221 pages, the 21-chapter book also focuses on past heroes in the city of Ibadan, the Ibadan Empire, founders, and notable Olubadan ruling lines as well as emojis of Ibadanland

Life and Times of 42nd Olubadan makes a deep explanation of the ascendancy to the Olubadan throne, the journey to become a high chief as well as that of members of the Olubadan-in-council.

It detailed the uniqueness of Ibadan chiefs in ascending to the throne of Olubadan without any rancour.

According to the organisers, it is a must-read by indigenous of Ibadan, residents and well-wishers of the city and that of the late monarch.

The book equally paid tributes to eminent sons and daughters of the city and its fallen heroes. The event is slated to be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at Ibadan Civic Centre, Idiape, Ibadan.

Alhaji Chief Fatai Aremu Olanrewaju, the Ekerin Parakoyi of Ibadanland, and High Chief, Fijabi. Agba Akin Olubadan will be Chief Launcher while Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, will be the Special Guest of Hon at the symposium.

The reigning Olubadan Oba Olakulehin is the Grand Host, and Oba Rashid Ladoja is expected to be the Chairman of the event.
