The Executive Chairman of Oriade Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Rasak Akorede Olojede, has bid his final farewell to his father, the late Alhaji Raimi Olojede, popularly known as the Akogun of Ibasa and Ijegun Egba, Satellite Town, Lagos.
The remains of the respected community leader were laid to rest on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, in a private funeral ceremony held in accordance with the wishes of the family.
Akogun Raimi Olojede passed away earlier on Wednesday after a brief illness.
The private burial was attended by family members, close associates, community leaders and a select group of dignitaries who gathered to honour the deceased and offer prayers and condolences to the bereaved family.
Speaking after the burial, the Oriade LCDA Chairman, on behalf of his siblings, expressed gratitude to those who honoured the family with their presence despite the short notice.
“On behalf of my siblings, I welcome you to my father’s home. He is no more; he has just been laid to rest. He was a strong pillar in my life, and we wished he had lived longer, but it pleased God to call him at this time.
“Our father was a good man who stood for the good of humanity, the children and the ordinary man. We thank God that he played his role in the community. He was very passionate about the development of our communities, and I am glad that he saw all we did for the community during his lifetime.
“He did not compromise his faith. He was a true custodian of our tradition and a man who lived with the fear of God. He will be truly missed by many, but thankfully, his legacies will continue to live on.
“Thank you for your time despite the short notice. God bless you all.”
Among the dignitaries who attended the funeral were the immediate past Chairman of Oriade LCDA, Hon. Ramotalai Olanrewaju Akinlola-Hassan; the Vice Chairman of Oriade LCDA, Hon. Ariyo Abolore Adebayo; and Hon. Rauf Olawale Age-Sulaiman, representing the Amuwo-Odofin Constituency in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Also present were community leader and human rights advocate, Chief Austine Ikubese, and his wife, the immediate past Special Adviser on Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) to Oriade LCDA, Hon. (Mrs.) Sarah Ikubese.
Religious leaders representing the three major faiths also attended the ceremony, alongside representatives of the Igbo community, including Chief Simon Eze Chairman/CEO of Golden Tree hotel and Seamark Electric Nigeria Plc..
The dignitaries and other well-wishers took turns to offer prayers, commiserate with the family and pay glowing tributes to the deceased, whom they described as a man of integrity, faith, community service and remarkable accomplishment.
Throughout his lifetime, Alhaji Raimi Olojede was remembered for his commitment to the welfare of the people, his passion for community development and his role as a custodian of culture and tradition.
While his death has left a void in the family and community, his children and associates expressed confidence that his enduring values and legacies would continue to live on through the lives he touched.
The funeral brought together family, political associates, community leaders and friends in a solemn celebration of the life and legacy of an octogenarian patriarch whose influence extended beyond his immediate family.
