Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa; Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; former governor Olusegun Mimiko, alongside 222 other prominent figures, have been appointed to the Ondo State All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council. The council is tasked with mobilising grassroots support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
The announcement coincided with the inauguration of the APC Presidential Women Campaign Council in Abuja by First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who consolidated various women’s support groups into a unified party structure.
Other notable members of the Ondo council include Deputy Governor Olaide Adelami, Taiwo Oyedele, Olamide Oladiji, Jide Ipinsagba, and Adeniyi Adegbonmire.
Ondo APC Chairman, Kolawole Babatunde, said the council would strengthen grassroots mobilisation across the state’s 18 local government areas, bringing together seasoned political leaders, stakeholders, women and youth leaders, and support groups committed to advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda.
At the Abuja inauguration, Mrs Tinubu emphasised that the campaign would cover all APC candidates nationwide. She announced plans for six zonal mega rallies, state-level campaigns, and a grand finale in Abuja, noting that she and the Vice President’s wife, Hajia Nana Shettima, would participate in the zonal events.
Mrs Tinubu urged women to champion the President’s re-election, highlighting achievements under the Renewed Hope Agenda 2.0, themed “From Reforms to Prosperity.” She cited stabilising economic indicators, growing foreign reserves, increased investor confidence, expanded support for farmers, and the rollout of student loans through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).
APC National Women Leader, Dr Mary Alile Idele, and Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, reinforced the call for grassroots mobilisation, stressing the importance of translating government reforms into tangible benefits for households and communities.
Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, described women as the party’s “loyal workers” and urged them to convert their mobilisation efforts into electoral victory. Governors’ wives, led by Professor Olufolake Abdulrazaq, pledged full participation in the nationwide campaign.
The event also featured commitments from female leaders across government and civil society, including Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, Mrs Ekaette Akpabio, Hajia Fatima Abbas, and Bisoye Coker-Odusote, all of whom rallied support for Tinubu’s re-election and called for greater female representation in governance.
