First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has inaugurated the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Women Campaign Council, charging women across Nigeria to mobilise voters at the grassroots and secure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
The inauguration, held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja on Monday, October 5, 2026, brought together APC women leaders, wives of political office holders, female ministers, presidential aides and delegates representing the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Speaking at the event, Senator Oluremi Tinubu said previously separate women support groups had been brought under a unified campaign structure to strengthen the party’s mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
“We have collapsed every other women support groups into one — from Tinubu Again, Torch Bearers, etc. What you will see on the ballot box is APC. We’re here to promote APC, nothing less,” she said.
She explained that the council would coordinate campaigns for APC candidates across all levels, from the presidency and governorship to the National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly.
“From Presidency, governorship, National Assembly and State Assembly, that is what we are here for,” the First Lady said.
According to her, the women’s campaign will feature six zonal mega rallies, state-level rallies and a grand finale in Abuja. She said she and the wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, would participate in the zonal campaigns alongside other party leaders.
She added that the wives of the Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives, as well as the Chairperson of the Nigeria Governors’ Spouses Forum, would represent her at state-level rallies.
Tinubu’s reforms
Senator Tinubu urged Nigerian women to support President Tinubu’s bid for a second term, insisting that the administration’s “Renewed Hope Agenda 2.0: From Reforms to Prosperity” was beginning to yield results.
“The theme of this year’s rally, Renewed Hope Agenda 2.0: From Reforms to Prosperity, is not just a slogan. It is our reality,” she said.
She cited what she described as improvements in the economy, including declining inflation, growing foreign reserves, renewed investor interest, increased support for farmers and access to student loans through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).
The First Lady urged the women to return to their respective states and communicate the administration’s policies and programmes to voters.
“Tell everyone as you go back to your various states that you have a leader who is bold enough to take difficult decisions in the beginning. He is a leader who can be trusted to lead us into prosperity,” she said.
She also called on women to demonstrate their support for the APC at the polls.
“Let us show the world that Nigerian women have spoken and we speak with one voice, that we vote APC again so that the solid foundation laid can be built upon,” she said.
APC women target grassroots mobilisation
The APC National Women Leader, Mary Alile Idele, said the women’s wing would focus on taking the administration’s policies and programmes from government circles to communities, markets, homes and the grassroots.
“Our responsibility is to take the gains and opportunities of the Renewed Hope Agenda from policy to the people, from government programmes to homes, markets, communities and the grassroots,” she said.
Idele said the party would strengthen its networks across wards, local government areas and communities while identifying women who require support and connecting them with available empowerment opportunities.
“We must move from mobilisation to measurable actions with clear responsibility, grassroots structure, regular engagement and accountable results,” she added.
Women urged to mobilise voters
The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, who spoke on behalf of the female ministers present, said Nigerian women had a responsibility to ensure that the administration’s reforms translated into tangible benefits for citizens.
She urged the women to work as a united team, while commending the Tinubu administration for its focus on women’s economic empowerment, food security and social protection.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, challenged each woman at the gathering to return to her community and mobilise at least 100 women for the APC.
“Go back to your communities, go back to your homes, door to door, neighbour to neighbour, community to community,” she said.
She also urged the women to resolve differences within their families and communities in order to build a stronger grassroots mobilisation network.
Yari: Women must translate mobilisation into votes
The Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, said the large turnout at the inauguration demonstrated the readiness of APC women to drive the party’s campaign.
He described women as “loyal workers” of the APC and urged them to convert their mobilisation efforts into votes during the 2027 elections.
“Women give 60 per cent of the total vote of any presidential election in Nigeria,” Yari said.
He assured the women of the support of the Presidential Campaign Council as they prepare for the nationwide campaign.
Governors’ wives pledge support
The First Lady of Kwara State and Chairperson of the Nigeria Governors’ Spouses Forum, Amb. Prof. Olufolake Abdulrazaq, said the wives of state governors were prepared to participate in the campaign across the country.
“All the first ladies are here. We are ready. We are ready for all the campaigns in all the states and all the campaigns in all the zones,” she said.
She said the governors’ wives had witnessed the impact of programmes implemented under the Renewed Hope Initiative, particularly interventions targeting elderly Nigerians, women, persons with disabilities and young people.
She added that delegates at the event represented the 36 states and more than 774 local government areas across the country.
Nana Shettima rallies women
The wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, urged the women to take the administration’s message and programmes back to their communities ahead of 2027.
“Please, I want you to take back this message to your different localities. 2027 is a perfect time,” she said.
She highlighted various interventions under the Renewed Hope Initiative, including programmes for students, women, older persons and persons living with disabilities.
According to her, the programmes had reached several parts of the country and provided an opportunity for beneficiaries to support the administration in the 2027 elections.
“It’s the time for us to pay back to our dear President,” she said.
The Wife of the Senate President, Mrs Ekaette Akpabio, also rallied women behind the campaign, while the Wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hajia Fatima Abbas, pledged the continued support of the wives of lawmakers.
Fatima Abbas said the wives of members of the House of Representatives were prepared to mobilise 20,000 women in each constituency.
Meanwhile, the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission, Bisoye Coker-Odusote, speaking on behalf of the 40 female chief executive officers appointed by President Tinubu, commended the administration for appointing women to leadership positions.
She urged women to mobilise voters for the APC while also advocating greater representation for women at the federal and sub-national levels.
The various speakers pledged to take the APC campaign to communities across the country as the party intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections.
